About
The Hellenic Centre for Photography was founded on the initiative of Stavros Moresopoulos in October 1986, having as central objectives the development of photography in Greece and the promotion of Greek photography abroad.
Today it is considered to be the most important and active non-governmental and non-profit organization in the area of photography in Greece. Since its foundation in 1986, H.C.P. has realized a number of activities, among others the organization of the International Month of Photography (now Athens Photo Festival) and the exhibition of Young Greek Photographers (1987- ), the International Photography Encounters in Patras (2002).
Through its cultural activities, the Hellenic Centre for Photography aims to act as a constant platform for encounters, involvement and promotion of the contemporary photography scene. The Centre focuses on photography, but is not limited in this focus, also placing related forms of art and expression within its institutional framework.
