Photographic Encounters in Patras

The International Photographic Encounters in Patras, that took place in December 2002, was one of the major cultural events of this capital city of the prefecture of Achaia, and one of the most significant photography events to take place in Greece. To date this is the sole encounter of almost all the major bodies dealing with photography in Greece. Its implementation was a collaboration with the Directorate of Fine Arts of the Ministry of Culture; the University of Patras; the Mount Athos Photographic Archive; the Benaki Museum; the Hellenic Literary and Historical Archive; the Thessaloniki Museum of Photography; the Athens Photography Centre; the Skopelos Photography Centre; the Thessaloniki Photography Centre; the Swedish Institute at Athens; the Topalis Foundation; and the Photography Department of the Student Cultural Groups of the University of Patras.
